Huggins & Scott Spring Auction Headlined by Some of The Hobby’s Most Iconic Pre- & Post-War Relics

Silver Spring, MD - March 22, 2024 - Huggins & Scott’s Spring Catalog Auction opened today with more than 1,600 lots of vintage sport and non-sport items. The auction features an array of both pre- and post-war cards, including a 1951 Bowman #253 Mickey Mantle Rookie High Number PSA VG 3 (Lot 7) and a 1948 Leaf #79 Jackie Robinson Rookie PSA GOOD 2 (Lot 6). The event will run through Thursday, April 4 with initial bids closing at 9 PM ET.



The auction also includes a 1934 World Wide Gum #28 Babe Ruth PSA VG 3 (Lot 1) along with a 1933 World Wide Gum #55 Lou Gehrig SGC VG 3 (Lot 2). These are the two most important cards in the World Wide Gum series, the Canadian counterpart of Goudey’s iconic set.


Additionally, collectors will be thrilled to find an affordable example of the legendary 1909-1911 T206 White Border Sherry Magie (Magee) Error card (Lot 5), one of the “Big Four” T206 cards and one of two error cards that comprise the Monster set (the others being the T206 Eddie Plank, the “Slow” Joe Doyle Error card, and of course the T206 Honus Wagner).


The event features several notable Americana items including a rare piece that comic book enthusiasts will love - the 5/68 Marvel Comics Iron Man #1 Key Silver Age Issue - CGC 9.4 White Pages (Lot 16). This important late Silver Age comic book marks the first solo issue for Tony Stark and Iron Man, one of the founding members of The Avengers. Graded 9.4, this stunning example grades within the top 5% of all graded CGC examples.
