Major League Soccer and Topps continued to drive this writer nuts this year as they went the entire MLS season without releasing an in-store product for collectors.

Sure, you had plenty of options throughout the MLS regular season with Topps Now producing cards most weeks but, like last season, collectors had to wait until the MLS regular season concluded before an in-store product from Topps was released to the public.

The big highlight in the set is the first retail or hobby cards with Uruguayan superstar Luis Suárez in an Inter Miami kit and the first with French goalkeeping legend Hugo Lloris wearing his new LAFC ‘keeper jersey.

The autograph options are actually great and even a slim chance at a Lionel Messi autograph makes this set something that will be desired by collectors around the world.

If only MLS and Topps released something during the regular season.

The NWSL playoffs are starting this weekend and one team will get to etch their name into the record books should they get three wins in the postseason.

There are plenty of faces to look out for but one could further her legend with a great postseason run: Temwa Chawinga.

The Kansas City Current forward led the NWSL with 20 goals in 2024 and has the opportunity to play the championship game at her home stadium in Kansas City should her team advance that far.

Chawinga is one of the greatest players on the planet and her cards will skyrocket in value if she adds a trophy this month.

Is anyone else selling their excess Shohei Ohtani cards now that he won the World Series with the Los Angeles Dodgers?

I’ve started going through my collection and I’ve had great success selling even relatively basic inserts of the Japanese superstar since his team won the title. They’ve been going like hotcakes for values that don’t make sense to me (one 2020 Stadium Club Chrome card is over $10 and I can’t figure out why).

As someone who is actively trying to downsize his collection, selling off my relatively basic Ohtani cards has been a lovely treat that has given me the money to pay my electric bill for the next few months.

‘Til next time.
